David Crosby : If I Could Only Remember My Name - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect (458 words)
David Crosby's debut solo album, If I Could Only Remember My Name is a one-shot wonder of dreamy but ominous California ambience.
It is a shame that Crosby would continue to descend throughout the remainder of the decade and the beginning of the next into aimless drug addiction, and that he would not issue another solo album until 18 years later.
As it is, If I Could Only Remember My Name is a shambolic masterpiece, meandering but transcendentally so, full of frayed threads.

If I Could Only Remember My Name by: David Crosby
The major point of disappointment is that this was Crosby's only solo effort until the late 1980's, because of his drugs problems, and that is a shame.
If you'd like to find out what rock was like when creativity was a requirement for recognition, or remember what moved us, back in the Sixties, to see the poetry of life in every single thing, this is an absolute must-have.
