Igglybuff's name is styled in a similar way to its evolved forms, Jigglypuff and Wigglytuff, implying their relation. "Iggly" most likely is to rhyme with "Jiggly", or "Wiggly" for it's evolved forms, and "buff" refers to the fact that it is oddly strong for it's looks. Whatever the case, Igglybuff and all its forms share similar names in every language.

Appearance

Igglybuff resembles a small pink balloon. It has a round body with four tiny appendages. On top of its head there is a tuft, and on its forehead a counterclockwise swirl. It has two red eyes. Because of this, it tends to be the cutest of all pokemon. But, it also makes it look weak, due to its small body, though it is not. Balloons, like greeting cards or flowers, are given for special occasions. ...

Biology

Like its evolutions Jigglypuff and Wigglytuff, Igglybuff's body shares many properties with a balloon. It is very soft, elastic and flexible. This enables it to bounce a long way, to the extent that Igglybuff finds it more efficient to move around by bouncing instead of walking on its two short legs.

Although Igglybuff too has the notorious singing ability of its evolutionary chain, its vocal cords are not yet fully developed in this early stage of its life. A prolonged singing effort results in Igglybuff turning a deeper and deeper pink as it strains itself, finally ending up damaging its throat. Igglybuff tends to gargle with clear springwater to soothe itself. Laryngoscopic view of the vocal folds. ... Anatomy In anatomy, the throat is the part of the neck anterior to the vertebral column. ...

Besides its hypnotic lullaby, Igglybuff has an additional measure of defense against predators. Its body exudes a gentle, sweet smelling aroma that can calm and soothe its foes into not attacking it. With these devices, Igglybuffs try to survive long enough until they can defend themselves with more offensive means.

In the video games

Igglybuff is not found in the wild in any of the games. Since it is a Baby Pokémon, it can only be obtained by hatching from an egg resulting from a female Jigglypuff or Wigglytuff breeding with another compatible Pokémon. (A male Jigglypuff or Wigglytuff can be used if a Ditto is substituted as the other parent). Therefore, the availability of Jigglypuff dicates the availability of Igglybuff. Ditto may mean several things: ditto marks like , 〃 or do. ...

Besides having excellent Hit Points, the rest of Igglybuff's stats are simply abysmal. The moves it learns naturally are very few and not at all that powerful. It is prudent to not use the baby Pokémon at all in battle until it has evolved into Jigglypuff or even Wigglytuff. In many wargames, role-playing games, and combat-oriented video games, hit points are an abstraction for the amount of damage an object or player in the game can take before becoming ineffective. ... Jigglypuff ) is one of the original Pokémon, appearing in the anime series as well as video games. ... Wigglytuff is a Pokémon from the pokémon franchise that evolves from Jigglypuff. ...

Igglybuff will evolve into Jigglypuff if it goes up a Level while it is feeling particularly happy towards its trainer. The player can influence this by including Igglybuff in his team, having it groomed whenever available, feeding it treats etc.

In the animé

The Igglybuff was featured in episode #245 (Same Old Song and Dance), where two twin Igglybuff are part of an artist's singing and dancing routine. The wild Jigglypuff who is recurring character in the anime is shown to be jealous of the attention the Igglybuff twins receive. In another episode, Ash Ketchum looks at an advertisement, and one of the Pokémon on the ad is an Igglybuff. Ash Ketchum is the main character whose adventures are followed in the Pokémon anime. ...
