Italian for "The Newspaper," Il Giornale was essentially the first Starbucks. Started by Howard Schultz, CEO of Starbucks, in 1985, Il Giornale was Schult'z first entrepeneural adventure. After being shot down with his Italian espresso bar idea by the three partners who started Starbucks, Schultz went out on his own and started Il Giornale. 2 years later, Starbucks was sold to Schultz and he merged the Starbucks name to the Il Giornale business plan, and history was made.
IlGiornale is a daily newspaper published in Milan, Italy.
Characterized from its birth by strong opposition to the left-wing parties of its time, ilGiornale was founded in 1974 by Indro Montanelli, who did not support the new progressivist line adopted by Corriere della Sera, where he was one of the historic names.
In 1994, Berlusconi sold ilGiornale to his brother Paolo and Vittorio Feltri replaced Indro Montanelli in the newspaper editorship.
