The case of the Ilkley Moor alien is one of the most controversial cases of alien abduction ever recorded in the U.K. On the morning of December 1st , 1987 police officer Alan Godfrey (pseudonyme) claimed that he came across a small humanoid green coloured creature while crossing the Moor,Godfrey was carrying a camera and a compass ,he managed to snap a photo of the creature which seemed to be gesturing to him. The Creature then ran away into a dome shaped u.f.o which then flew away. During the encounter the man lost several hours in time. Godfrey later developped his film which showed a blurry picture of what appeared to be a gray alien. He then contacted a ufo researcher and went under hypnosis where godfrey recalled that he'd been taken away by the creature whome performed medical examinations on him and then released him. There are other people who have watched mysterious lights moving over the moor at night. Certainly many of these sightings could be explained by aircraft taking off from the nearby Leeds Bradford Airport, but others can not be explained. Some scientists think that these lights might be caused by energy released by movements in the earth's crust, but with no concrete scientific explanation for the lights or strange sightings. Other people believe that these strange encounters are connected to the many ancient stone markings that litter the moor or in some way relate to secret military activity that takes place at near-by RAF Menwith Hill. |
