The Illawarra Line and South Coast Line are located in Sydney, Australia, and are two rail lines in CityRail's south coast network. The network stretches from Bondi Junction in the north, through Helensburgh and the Royal National Park, to Dapto in the south, then continuing to Kiama and the Shoalhaven. The Illawarra section of the line joins with the Sydney metropolitan area, in Waterfall.


History

The line was made in the mid 1800s to transport people living in Wollongong ("the Gong") to the city of Sydney.

The Illawarra and Eastern Suburbs Line is located in Sydney, Australia, in CityRail's metropolitan and south coast network, and has two branches, one to Cronulla and the other to Waterfall.
The Illawarra line is joined to the South Coast line at Waterfall which extends the CityRail network outside the metropolitan area to Dapto in the south, then continuing to Kiama, then the Shoalhaven region.
