Image Constraint Token, or ICT, is a flag that causes downsampling of high-definition content on Blu-ray and HD DVD to slightly-better-than-DVD quality video. It is highly related to Advanced Access Content System, the Digital Rights Management system used in the next-generations of optical disc and DVDs. When the AACS-enabled player is not connected to a HDCP compliant display (such as when a display is connected to the player through analog connections) and the ICT flag is activated, the player automatically downsamples the video to the resolution of 960x540 pixels and outputs it. Some HDTV early adopters dislike the ICT flag because the first generation HDTVs did not come with HDCP support and if it was activated these people would not be able to enjoy high-definition video off optical discs. Hollywood has reportedly agreed in not downgrading high-definition content for the two formats until 2012.[1] Blu-ray discs Blu-ray Disc is a next-generation optical disc format jointly developed by a group of leading consumer electronics and PC companies called the Blu_ray Disc Association (BDA), which succeeds the Blu_ray Disc Founders (BDF). ...
