LAYOFFS As of May 8,2007 Imation entered an agreement with Key Tronic Corporation (Nasdaq:KTCC), a provider of electronic manufacturing services (EMS, that when implemented is expected to contribute approximately $20 million to Key Tronic's annual revenue. As a result of this approximately 675 positions will be eliminated. The Company also announced plans to close its Wahpeton, N.D. plant by mid-2009, and lay off at least 100 employees at its Weatherford, Ok. plant, and the Camarillo, Ca.plant.
The Oakdale company, which makes magnetic tape and diskettes as well as CDs, DVDs, hard drives and flash memory sticks, said it will incur $25 million to $30 million in restructuring charges over the next two years.
But the company also expects to reap annual savings of $25 million to $30 million after the changes are complete.
The company plans to drop its line of diskettes, which were made in Wahpeton, and focus its energies on magnetic tape coating at its two remaining plants in Camarillo, Calif. and Weatherford, Okla.
Most of the eliminated jobs will be in manufacturing, but Imation's Oakdale headquarters, where it conducts its research and development, will see about 40 jobs cut too.
