Immaculate Heart is a private, Catholic, college preparatory school dedicated to the intellectual, spiritual, moral and social development of young women.

The mission of the school is to foster academic excellence in an environment that encourages students to become women of great heart and right conscience through leadership, service and a life-long commitment to Christian values.

Since its founding in 1906 by the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Immaculate Heart High School has endeavored to continue its commitment to providing an educational program which addresses the needs of young women as these have developed and changed, generation after generation. Immaculate Heart defines its mission as two-fold:

First, to share in the teaching apostolate of the Catholic Church by creating a learning environment where students can mature in their faith as they reflect on their special role as members of the Christian community. Basic to this faith is the belief that:

God is the source of all life; and the dignity of all persons comes from being created in God's image, by being redeemed by Jesus and by being the recipients of His promise of resurrection; and the Gospel calls all people to truth, justice, honesty, service and compassion.

Second, to develop a significant foundation for the ongoing acquisition of skills, knowledge and values which will enable students to function not only as intelligent, informed and contributing members of their society, but as young women whose self-esteem, spirituality and life of faith motivates them to realize their own unique potential and allows them to discern carefully and to choose wisely those values which contribute to their own and others' authentic well-being and happiness.

Immaculate Heart strives to fulfill its mission by its commitment to a Christian philosophy, its stated goals, its program of instruction carefully designed to meet the increasing needs of women in the contemporary world, its liturgies and days of recollection, its activities, its policies and programs, all of which exist to foster the spiritual, social, intellectual and aesthetic development of the student. In addition, Immaculate Heart's mission and purpose is facilitated by a competent, caring and supportive faculty and staff who have unqualified respect for the uniqueness of the individual and the religious and ethnic diversity of their students.

Immaculate Heart High School Alumni can be found in every spectrum of the working world. The school takes pride by having alumni who enter working environments that are not accustomed to women in their predominantly male environment. Immaculate Heart women enter fields such as the medical, engineering, business, and art fields. More recognizable women are Tyra Banks who graduated 1991, Mary Tyler Moore and Lucie Arnaz. All three women visited their alma mater recently - Tyra Banks returned the summer of 2005 to film a biographical account of her high school career for her current show The Tyra Banks Show, while both Mary Tyler Moore and Lucie Arnaz came to Immaculate Heart during the 2005-2006 school year as notable speakers for the centennial season.
