In the Cut is a 2003 American/British/Australian crime/erotic thriller film written and directed by New Zealand director Jane Campion. It is based on a Susanna Moore novel, and has been released on DVD. The unrated version is notorious for a scene of apparent unsimulated fellatio witnessed by Meg Ryan's character, although it was later revealed in the film commentary that the actress fellated a dildo. Jump cut - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (589 words)
A jump cut is a cut in film editing where the middle section of a continuous shot is removed, and the beginning and ends of the shot are then joined together.
A generic example of a jump cut is a shot in which two actors are talking to each other, with one having his or her hands at her sides.
Jump cuts are generally either a technical flaw, or done for an artistic special effect — most normal cuts in film editing occur between dissimilar scenes or significantly different views of the same scene to avoid the appearance of a jump.
G.O.P. to Seek Cut in Capital Gains Tax (992 words)
If enacted, the cut in the capital gains tax rate, which applies to profits on the sale of stock and other assets held for more than a year, would give a break to the growing legions of individual investors.
The top capital gains rate was last cut, to 20 percent from 28 percent, as part of the 1997 bipartisan tax and budget deal.
The tax cuts would be phased in as the projected surpluses grow, with $5 billion available for tax cuts next year and $200 billion over the first five years, Archer said.
