Encyclopedia > In the money (poker)

In the money, or ITM, is a term given in poker, which describes a players placement in a tournament. A player will either "bust" out of the money, or finish in the money. Most tournaments pay around the top 10% of finishers, so it is generally difficult to finish in the money. This article is about the card game. ... A poker tournament is a tournament at which the winners are decided by playing poker, usually a particular style of poker. ...

The place right before the lowest money payout is refered to as the bubble. When a tournament is near the bubble, players tend to tighten up their play because they do not want to bust out and not receive any money.
