This term is used in the Catholic Church term to describe the jurisdiction a Priest receives from his Bishop, that allows him to practice in public ministry. A Priest may lost incardination but not be laicized or defrocked. Priests who are not incardinated may not give absolution, nor may they preside over Church Weddings.
