The Emperor Leopold I of Austria promulgated the imperial decree of
Innsbruck a general theological seminary for the whole of Tyrol, only to close it again in 1790.

There are several ski resorts around Innsbruck with the Nordkette served by a cable car and additional chair lifts higher on being the closest to the city itself.
