The Idflieg (Inspektion der Fliegertruppen - "Inspectorate of Flying Troops") was the bureau of the German War Office that oversaw Germanmilitary aviation prior to and during World War I. It has been suggested that Aerial warfare be merged into this article or section. ... âThe Great Warâ redirects here. ...
* The Fliegertruppe (Aviation Troops, literally, Flying troops) were organized in the end of 1913 by dividing the Inspektionder Luftschiffertruppen, (Inspectorate of Airship Troops) and InspektionderFliegertruppen (Inspectorate of Aviation Troops) and with the Inspektion des Kraftfahrwesens,(Inspectorate of Mechanical Transport).
With the establishment of the Jagdgeschwader (Jage) and the Führer der Jagdgruppen, (Gruja) in 1917, the Jage were controlled at the Armee level, AOK.
* * With the establishment of the Luftstreitkräfte, an organization with the strength of an Armee Korps, the office of Kommandierenden General der Luftstreitkräfte, (Kogenluft) was established and Generalleutnant Erich von Hoeppner was appointed Kogenluft, and he reported directly to the Chief of the General Staff of the Armies in the Field.
He was promoted to Generalmajor in October 1935, Generalleutnant in April 1937, General der Flieger in November 1937, and Generalfeldmarschall in July 1940.
This book takes a new approach as it studies in detail each of the air battles of "Der Rote Kampfflieger." Franks has gathered much material on each action, the opposing pilot, and even the combat reports as filed by von Richthofen.
Further along in the folder is a typewritten poem/song titled "Die Heldenschar der Luft," which translates to "The Heroic Group of the Air." This was sung to the tune of "Proudly Wave the Flag," a popular patriotic song.
