Interamnia (also: Interamna) is an ancient Latin placename, meaning "between rivers". There were at least three towns of ancient Italy so named:
Interamna Nahars (or Nahartium), the modern Terni: the rivers are the Nera and the Tiber;
Interamna Praetutianorum, the modern Teramo: the rivers are the Tordino and the Vezzola;
Interamna Lirinas, no modern successor, on the Liri River.
The asteroid 704 Interamnia is named after the town of Teramo.

Interamnia is defined as an F-type asteroid - a relatively uncommon form in the Solar System.
Interamnia's materials are, however, relatively primitive and (compared to the hotter terrestrial planets) generally unaltered, with an elemental composition similar to that of the nebula from which the Solar System formed.
Moving 260 tonnes from the surface of Interamnia to geosynchronous orbit requires 5.5 gigajoules.
