Encyclopedia > Interstate 105

Interstate 105 is the designation for two tertiary interstate routes.

California

Interstate 105 in southern California, also known as the Century Freeway and the Glenn Anderson Freeway, is the newest interstate highway to be constructed in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. It is 17.3 miles (28 km) long and its primary purpose is to connect Interstate 5 to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Much of I-105 is actually built below ground in a "ditch," as several Los Angeles suburbs did not want another above-ground freeway passing through their city limits. The MTA "Green Line" trolley tracks run along the 105's median for much of the road's length.

Detailed information on the route can be found at the Century Freeway page.

Oregon

Interstate 105 in Oregon is a short interstate spur expressway of Interstate 5 located between Eugene and Springfield. The western terminus of I-105 is at the interchange with the north-south Delta Highway (unnumbered freeway); the eastern terminus is with I-5 but the freeway continues east through Springfield as Oregon State Highway 126 for several miles.
