History

The Harbor Freeway (south of Santa Monica Freeway) was built from early 1950s to early 1960s. The I-110 number is also once used, at Four Level Interchange for stub of San Bernardino Freeway mostly Interstate 10 between Hollywood Freeway and Golden State Freeway from 1963 and decommissioned in 1968. Originally the highway was signed as U.S. Highway 6 which decommissioned as California State Highway 11 in 1964. The Harbor Freeway was accepted as Interstate Highway Standard by FHWA in 1978, and it went up changing the SR-11 signs to Interstate 110 in 1981, along with Pasadena Freeway and Arroyo Parkway (which is the north of Santa Monica Freeway) is now California State Highway 110.
