Generically speaking, invaders are those who participate on an invasion, often in a militaristic context. An invasion is a military action consisting of troops entering a foreign land (a nation or territory, or part of that), often resulting in the invading power occupying the area, whether briefly or for a long period. ...


Other uses of the word include

  • A Marvel Comics group of WW II superheroes created in 1975 by Roy Thomas is called "The Invaders". It has been revived as the "New Invaders" in 2004.
  • There seems to be a New Zealand music group named "The Invaders".
  • Taito released an arcade game in 1978 called "Invaders" - it was the game that started the golden age of video games.
  • There was a TV Series on ABC-TV in the United States from January 1967 until May of 1968 called "The Invaders" dealing with an alien invasion of creatures who took on human form and who were often thwarted by a loan alien hunter, David Vincent, played by actor Roy Thinnes.

Most famous as the composer of "Rum and Coca-Cola," Lord Invader was a popular calypso performer in both his native Trinidad and New York, recording from the late '30s through the early '60s.
Lord Invader sued for plagiarism, the case eventually getting decided in his favor in 1947, although he didn't receive money from the defendants for seven years.
As with many other calypso singers of that and other eras, Lord Invader was skilled at devising songs with social and political commentary, as well as singing more conventional lyrics based on romantic situations, or based upon traditional folk songs.

Invader Zim is an American animated television series created by comic book writer/artist Jhonen Vasquez and aired on Nickelodeon.

However, on January 4th, 2007, Nicktoons Network announced on their website that they would soon be showing Invader Zim episodes "never before seen on Earth." Whether they will air only a few of the unaired episodes or the remainder of the series remains to be seen.
