Iowa Colony is a village located in Brazoria County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 804. It is also known as a major speed trap along highway 288, as it has five short areas (fingers) of its city limits that cross over highway 288. This allows their police to consider speeders crossing through these fingers as ticketable.
