Irish Whip Wrestling (IwW) is a professional wrestling promotion based in the southeast of Ireland which has been running shows since 2002. The company would go on to open its own training centre in 2002; called the Lock Up, that would later have British pro wrestler Darren Burridge as its head trainer. Professional wrestling performed within the boundaries of the United Kingdom became popular when the television show World of Sport was launched in the mid-1960s and the sport remained a mainstay of British culture from the late then until World of Sport's cancellation in 1985.
The British style of wrestling is more technically oriented as opposed to the power moves displayed by their North American counterparts and the high flying moves performed by their Mexician counterparts.
Wrestling was a major Friday night attraction in the fifties and sixties at the now-demolished, Liverpool Stadium in Bixteth Street, Liverpool, where there was always a full house for the regular wrestling nights.
