Isaac Huger (March 19, 1742October 17, 1797) was an American planter and Continental Army general from Berkeley County, South Carolina. In 1760 he served as a lieutenant in the South Carolina militia and fought against the Chorokee's during the French and Indian War. He was later elected to the First Continental Congress. After hostilities broke out he was commisioned a lieutenant colonel in the 1st Continental Regiment, South Carolina Line. He was promoted to colonel on September 16, 1776 and given command of the 5th Continental Regiment, South Carolina Line. His actions while commanding the 5th South Carolina resulted in his promotion to Brigadier General in 1779. He fought in most of the major engagements in the Southern Theater of the Revolutionary War. In September 1789 he was appointed by President Washington as one of the first 13 United States Marshals. He was a great-uncle of Benjamin Huger. He was a member of the commons house of assembly, and in 1775 of the provincial congress, and, with his brothers Daniel, Benjamin, and Isaac, took an active part in the revolutionary movement of South Carolina.
Huger was reappointed, and held the office from 19 December, 1834, till the close of the civil war.
Huger, having given up the horse to his companion, Dr. Eric Bollmann, was arrested near the spot and taken to Olmutz, where he was harshly treated.
