Isabella Neville (1451-1476) was the younger daughter of Richard Neville, 16th Earl of Warwick, the Kingmaker of the war of the roses. In 1469 she married George, Duke of Clarence. She was the mother of Margaret Pole, Countess of Salisbury and Edward, Earl of Warwick.

It was developed by Katherine Briggs and her daughter Isabel Myers during World War II, and follows from the theories of Carl Jung as laid out in his work Psychological Types
