Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,170 km˛ (452 mi˛). 1,137 km˛ (439 mi˛) of it is land and 33 km˛ (13 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 2.83% water.

The racial makeup of the county is 97.65% White, 0.26% Black or African American, 0.58% Native American, 0.38% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.17% from other races, and 0.94% from two or more races. 0.83% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
