However, the creation of the Conference South redcued the number of teams in the Isthmian League, meaning only one First Division was necessary. The F.A., however, decided that there should be 6, rather than 4, 'step four' divsions of the National League System, again to reduce travel costs. As a result, the First Division South will be reformed for the 2006-07 season, taking teams from the various leagues below it.
