Pedroso, 28, was welcomed home by his wife Yanara and three-month-old son Ivancito after winning his fifth consecutive title—something which is unprecedented—at the Indoor World Championships in Lisbon on March 11.
Pedroso’s personal best is 8.72 meters and he would like to improve his own mark before thinking about defeating the world record of 8.95 meters, held by U.S. athlete Mike Powell.
Although Pedroso broke that record in July 1995 in Sestrieres, Italy, with a mark of 8.96 meters, it was not approved by the international federation.
