J Church is a San Francisco punk rock band fronted by Lance Hahn formed in 1992. Hahn was responsible for the majority of writing and singing in the band and also played lead guitar. He is the only current founding member, and can be seen as the sole creative force behind the band. Gardner Maxam played bass in the band until 1998, at which point the bass position became as the drums had always been; a quickly revolving door. Current members other than Lance include Ben White as well as Chris Pfeffer of Severed Head of State. J Church is a San Francisco punk rock band fronted by Lance Hahn formed in 1992. ... J Church is named after the San Francisco Muni Metro line that Hahn took down Church Street to work every day. Lance Hahn was a seasoned punk rock history writer, including many pieces written for Maximum Rock 'n' Roll, the San Francisco music zine. Additionally, he also found time to run Honey Bear Records and work on a book compiling various writings on anarcho-punk bands. He died on October 21, 2007, after falling into a coma on October 12, 2007 due to complications with kidney dialysis. Maximum Rock n Roll is a rock and roll magazine. ...


Ben White writes, draws, and produces a comic 'zine about his life as a stoned out slacker playing in numerous punk bands in Austin, TX, called "Snake Pit", available through Young American Comics.

Lance Hahn died on October 21, 2007 from complications due to recurring kidney problems and an infections. He had been in a coma since collapsing at dialysis on Friday, October 12th, 2007.
