John Redwood Anderson (1883 – 1964) was an English poet. He was born in Manchester, and educated at Trinity College, Oxford. After travelling, he settled as a teacher in Kingston-upon-Hull.
The Fort Anderson patrol had been tipped off that a band of 200 hostile Indians were at the mouth of Redwood Creek and "very properly went in pursuit of them," according to the report.
On a wide, flat field next to Redwood Creek, Fort Anderson was charged with keeping the peace from that creek, on the south, to the Klamath River on the north.
Anderson, 8th California Infantry, the post was intended for safeguard the area be tween the creek and the Klamath River from Indian hostiles.
Anderson states that it negotiated a settlement with the Secretary in which it agreed to pay civil penalties in the sum of $721 instead of the proposed penalties of $1442.
Anderson subsequently received a letter from Judge Barbour stating that the settlement motion was filed on March 31, 2003, after the judge had issued the default order.
Finally, Anderson suggests that some confusion in these proceedings may have been attributable to the use of an incorrect case number in the Secretary's petition for assessment of penalty.
