Jack White was born John Anthony Gillis in 1975 to working-class parents and grew up in the lower middle class districts of southwestern Detroit.
Jack White’s musical career began slowly in the 1990s with short stints as a drummer and guitarist in the country-punk band Goober and the Peas, and later with garage rock bands The Go, The Upholsterers, and Jack White and the Bricks.
