James Ehnes is a Canadian violinist.


"One of the most gifted and sincerely expressive artists to have emerged in recent times" (The Daily Telegraph, London)


Ehnes is an high profile international performer and one of the most prolific recording artists in any style of music (with a total six recordings in 2004). He plays on the "Ex Marsick" Stradivarius of 1715, which a collector purchased in order to lend to him.

James Ehnes' highly active 2002-2003 season opened with his return to the BBC Proms in Brahms' Violin Concerto with Richard Hickox and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
Ehnes performing with the New Jersey and Montréal Symphony Orchestras, in Coloraine and Belfast with the Ulster Orchestra, in recital in Rouen and Le Havre, France, Birmingham, England, Bergamo, Italy, and at the 30th Festival International Cervantino in Mexico, on tour with l'Orchestre National de Lille, and in Lisbon for performances with the Gulbenkian Orchestra.
