James Louis Garvin (April 12, 1868 - January 23, 1947) was a British journalist who edited both the Pall Mall Gazette (1912-1915) and The Observer (1908-42). He also wrote for the Sunday Express and The Daily Telegraph and was editor-in-chief of Encyclopędia Britannica (1926-1932).

JAMES H. James H. Garvin, son of Thomas and Mary Garvin, was born in St. Louis, MO., February 15, 1857.
Garvin had been a sufferer for many years of heart trouble but was always very patient and cheerful and continued his usual duties upon the farm until the end which came very suddenly on Wednesday evening, November 9, 1927, being 70 years, 8 months and 24 days of age at the time of his passing.
Garvin was born March 6, 1863 in Scott County, west of Manchester at the Arendell family homestead, the daughter of Samuel and Mary J. Curtis Arendell.
