James "J.Y." Young is a member of the rock band Styx. He was born on the South Side of Chicago on November 14th, 1949 and began playing keyboard and piano at age five. He attended Calumet High in Chicago and learned clarinet and guitar during those years. J.Y. joined TW4 at the Illinois Institute of Technology, and that band later became the first incarnation of Styx. The cover for Styx first album Styx Styx is an American rock and roll band, popular in the 1970s and early 1980s, and touring again in the 2000s. ... After the band's breakup in 1983, J.Y released a solo album, City Slicker. He was not in the reformation of the band when it recorded Edge of the Century, but, after two more solo album, he was invited back to record the live album Return to Paradise, and is still currently in the band.

Born James Vincent Young on November 14, 1949, in Chicago, IL, Young was introduced to music at the age of five when he began taking piano lessons, which eventually led to the guitar by his teenage years (drawing inspiration from the usual suspects of the era -- Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Johnny Winter, etc.).
James Young (13 July, 1811–May 13, 1883), a Scottish chemist, was born in Glasgow, the son of a joiner and carpenter.
Young retired from the operation of the company in 1870, and died at age 71 in his home Kelly, near Wemyss Bay, on May 13 1883, and was buried at Inverkip.
