Jan Kucharzewski (1876-1952) was a Polish historian, lawyer, and politician, prime minister of Poland (1917-1918)


In 1898 he graduated from Warsaw University, he was a memeber of Zet political organizaction, National Democrats (Narodowa Demokracja) movement, and National League (Liga Narodowa) till 1911. In the first years of the World War I he was in Switzerland, where he wrote some articles for the Polish cause. In June 1917 he came back to Warsaw receiving a job in the administration under the Regency Council. Since 26 November 1917 till 27 February 1918 he was the prime minister of the Polish government. After 1920 he dedicated his life to scientific work. Since 1940 (World War II) he was in exile in the USA, where he published many works for the Polish cause, mainly from a anti-communist and anti-Soviet point of view.

Steczkowski served as Minister of Finances in the government of Jan Kucharzewski.
On April 4, 1918, the Regency Council set up a government in which he became the Prime Minister.
