Janette Lake is an unorganized territory located in St. Louis County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the unorganized territory had a total population of 249.


Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the unorganized territory has a total area of 93.7 km˛ (36.2 mi˛). 89.8 km˛ (34.7 mi˛) of it is land and 3.9 km˛ (1.5 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 4.12% water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 249 people, 105 households, and 84 families residing in the unorganized territory. The population density is 2.8/km˛ (7.2/mi˛). There are 136 housing units at an average density of 1.5/km˛ (3.9/mi˛). The racial makeup of the unorganized territory is 98.39% White, 0.00% Black or African American, 0.40% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.20% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 105 households out of which 20.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 72.4% are married couples living together, 3.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.0% are non-families. 13.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 2.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.37 and the average family size is 2.58.


In the unorganized territory the population is spread out with 16.5% under the age of 18, 4.4% from 18 to 24, 19.3% from 25 to 44, 44.6% from 45 to 64, and 15.3% who are 65 years of age or older.
