Japanimation was a program that aired on WJYS (Channel 62 in the Chicagoland area), from 11 pm to 1 am on Friday Nights in the early-mid 1990s. It aired various anime movies, usually edited for content, which included scenes of explicit violence, sexual situations, nudity (which was usually hidden behind pixellation), and stronger swear words, as well as for time constraints. In a twist of irony, in lieu of commercial breaks, phone sex advertisements would intersperse within the programming. Much of the movies that were shown were under Streamline Pictures, but a few Manga films were aired from time to time. A few years later, it was shortened to a 1 hour time slot, though aired on the same night. By the late 1990s, the show was ultimately phased out when the network underwent a complete reprogramming; the current content aired is usually religious programming, informercials, and a few episodes of Austin City Limits WJYS is a religious television station in Hammond, Indiana, serving the Chicago, Illinois market on channel 62. ...
