Jari Askins (April 27, 1953) is an American lawyer and Democratic politician from the US State of Oklahoma. Askins will be Lieutenant Governor of Oklahoma at the end of Mary Fallin's term in 2007, and will be the first Democratic Woman Lt. Governor of Oklahoma. Askins was born on April 27, 1953, in Duncan, Oklahoma. She graduated from Duncan High School in 1971. She then attended the University of Oklahoma to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism in 1975. Askins then received a Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1980.
