Jason's Deli is a fast casual restaurant chain, serving the four "S"'s (Sandwiches, Salads, Soups, and Spuds). Jason's Deli started in 1976 in Beaumont, Texas by Joe Tortorice. The original location is still in operation at the Gateway Shopping Center. The chain started franching in 1983 with the first location in Tuscon, Arizona. Majority of the over 150 units are in Texas, the Southeast U.S. and the Southwest U.S., covering 20 states. The company is privately owned with half of the units are corporate owned and the rest are franchises. The Concept The delis feature a self service salad bars, daily soup selection, desserts, along with sandwiches and spuds. The muffaletta sandwich a huge sandwich on 10 inch sesame seed bread with turkey or ham and salami with provolone and homemade olive salad. Poboys, such as roast beef and meatball are featured. Also classics such as club, BLT, Reuben, tuna melt, etc. are served. Contempory sandwiches such as wraps and paninis are available, but the Wrapini Tm was created by Jason's which are wraps grilled on the panini grill. The spuds are giant baked potatoes stuffed with various fillings. Also catering with party trays and box lunches are available. Healthy The Jason's Deli chain sucessfully removed trans fatty acids from all the menu items. The salad bar features some amounts of organic produce.
