For a spell of two years, she played Nala in a production of The Lion King on London's West End. Eurovision

On March 5, 2005, she won Eurovision: Making Your Mind Up, the British heat of the Eurovision Song Contest 2005, singing "Touch My Fire", co-written by Hylton. The other contestants were the 1996 UK entrant Gina G, as well as Andy Scott-Lee, the group Tricolore, and Katie "Jordan" Price. During the performance 'tit tape' used to hold dress in place came loose causing a wardrobe malfunction. Javine went on to represent the UK in the final in Kiev, reportedly suffering from a throat infection. With pre-final odds of 33/1, she finished with 18 points, in 22nd place, ahead only of France and Germany. The Games

Javine has since appeared on Series 4 of the Channel 4 programme The Games, which she went on to win. She began an affair with fellow The Games contestant and West End stage star MC Harvey, husband of Mis-Teeq singer Alesha. This led to a well-publicised feud between Javine and UK R&B superstar Jamelia. Jamelia referred to Hylton as 'a slag' on Never Mind the Buzzcocks, and in an interview for Channel 4's Popworld she nominated her as 'the one person she would like to delete'. Personal life

After suffering a life-threatening ovarian illness, Javine was eager to become a mother while she was still able. Within six weeks of making the decision to have a child with Harvey, Javine conceived while in Berlin.


On 23 February 2008 Javine gave birth to a daughter named Angel Hylton Harvey in Tooting, south London. She weighed 9lbs and was delivered in a water-birth in the London Birthing Centre. Both Javine's and Harvey's family were present at the hospital. Javine and Angel left the hospital the same day.
