Trivia

  • Jax also appeared as main character in the Mortal Kombat spin-off Mortal Kombat: Special Forces, an action game which describes the events related to the Special Forces and the Black Dragon, leading up to the first game.
  • His original name was going to be Kurtis Stryker. They later recycled that name to create a new character in Mortal Kombat 3.
  • It is believed that Jax was included in Mortal Kombat II at the last minute over racist claims (although the Mortal Kombat characters come from various places, they are considered to be white in skin color) and there were no other dark skinned people. Jax would be the first character of dark skin, along with Jade (although not an African American, she did had a tan texture).
  • Jax was originally conceived as a kickboxer, but the idea was discarded due to potential similarities to Balrog. Then he was given a yellow martial arts gi with big metal hands; however, as they concealed much of the actor's impressive physique, he was given long tights like those used for professional wrestling.
  • Jax's bionic arms appear to have the ability to morph into different shapes, as he has the ability to turn them into blades.
  • Jax is famous for his grab and punch move in which he yells "Gotcha!"
  • In the first Mortal Kombat movie, Jax name was spelled "Jaxx" in the final credits.
  • Before Sonya existed, Jax was originally conceived as a character and possessed her scenario for the first Mortal Kombat. However, since there were no female characters in the original roster at the time, Sonya was created and she inherited his story line, ie pursuing Kano and becoming trapped on Shang Tsung's island.
