Jazzercise has several different varieties of class. The classic Jazzercise class consists of dance movements 'on the floor'. These classes may be supplemented with weights, exercise balls, or stretch bands depending on the location. Other classes in step aerobics, body sculpting (workouts with weights), flexibility, and for children are also offered depending on the location. Some Jazzercise instructors are also certified to offer Personal Touch classes which focus on classes of 3 to 5 students. Personal Touch directs students in success in more rigorous exercises and weight routines than offered in the larger classes. The Jazzercise program was first created in 1969 by Judi Sheppard Missett, who is now the CEO of Jazzercise, Inc. Missett first thought of the program while teaching traditional jazz dance classes in Evanston, Illinois. Missett moved to Carlsbad, California to start Jazzercise, Inc. and began training instructors. There are now 6,000 certified Jazzercise instructors worldwide. Jazzercise instructors are franchise owners, and therefore have individual locations, class hours, and pass prices, relevant to the economy in the area in which the classes are conducted. Jazzercise classes are found by using the class locater system at the corporate website, or by seeking an instructor's individual website, through popular website search engines via geographical location. 1969 (MCMLXIX) was a common year starting on Wednesday (the link is to a full 1969 calendar). ...
