Sports 2000 Players - Backdraft: Montreal Expos (629 words)
Reardon was chosen in the 23rd round of the 1973 draft out of Wahconah High School in Dalton, Mass., just behind Matt Dinkle of Nicholls State, and ahead of Elgin Battles of Waianae High School in Hawaii.
Reardon bypassed the Expos to go to college and was chosen by the New York Mets in 1977.
Re-acquired by Montreal in 1981, his first season in the major leagues, Reardon went on to be a premier closer, posting 367 saves and a 3.16 ERA in a 16-year career which ended in 1994.
