Jennifer Maria Syme (December 7, 1972 – April 2, 2001) was an assistant director. She was most famous for being the girlfriend of Keanu Reeves. They dated from 1990 until 2000. She was the daughter of Maria St John and lived in California for 18 years, soon after moving to LA to work for David Lynch - whom she worked for 10 years. Syme had a few minor film roles, including a part in Lynch's Lost Highway. Well known in the Los Angeles entertainment industry, she had many celebrity friends including, Marilyn Manson, Scott Ian, Samantha Maloney, Elijah Blue Allman, Nick Hexum, Bijou Phillips, Whitfield Crane, Dave Navarro, Monet Mazur, Scott Coffey and Jessicka Fodera from the band Scarling. She introduced many of her friends to David Lynch and some were given small roles in his films. Relationship with Reeves

In December 1999, Syme and Reeves were expecting a daughter which they had planned to name Ava Archer Syme-Reeves. On or around Chrismas Eve, she was stillborn. In March of 2000 Syme and Reeves split up, unable to cope with the loss as a couple, but remained friends.^{[citation needed]}

Death

Syme's life ended at the age of 28 in an automobile accident on April 2, 2001. At 6:20 AM, she drove her Jeep Grand Cherokee into a row of parked cars on Cahuenga Boulevard, near the onramp for the 101 Freeway. The vehicle flipped three times before landing on its side.
