Closer to New York, Jericho Turnpike is not much more than an endless string of strip malls often choked by traffic, although the eastern portion is surrounded by scenic pumpkin farms and wineries. In between Smithtown and Coram Long Island is one of the most dangerous strips of road in the United States. Nearly everyday there is a major automobile accident. On another note, it has the most restaurants in a 3 mile area than any other in the United States.[citation needed]
