Jesse Valenzuela was the original vocalist of the alternative rock band Gin Blossoms when it was formed in 1987. In 1988, he switched roles with the band's new guitarist, Robin Wilson. He continued to be a member until the band's breakup in 1997, and reunited with the rest of the group in 2002.

Jesse Valenzuela while in the Gin Blossoms always sounded really good but wow he has certainly blossomed into such an incredible musician.
I had never heard of Jesse Valenzuela until I visited CD BABY, but as it was a recommendation with my other purchase and the clips sounded OK...
Valenzuela's voice has a pleasantly smoky edge to it, and his sense of melody is terrific.

Valenzuela was actually the Blossoms' lead vocalist in one early incarnation of the band, and his harmony vocals are one of the key building blocks of the band's full, guitar-driven sound.
Valenzuela's voice has a pleasantly smoky edge to it, and his sense of melody is terrific.
Valenzuela's is a voice better suited to mid-tempo numbers that rely heavily on melody and phrasing, a genre on which he wisely concentrates here.
