Jimeno Garces became chosen as successor of his kinsman Eneko Aritza as King of Pamplona in 851 or 852. He apparently was son of Garcia Jimenez, who probably was lord of Alava and possibly a Duke of Gascony/ Vasconia, during the time of King Inigo. His accession apparently united these two Basque territories. In 860 however, the united Pamplonese and Navarrese gave the Crown to the son of Aritza, Garcia's namesake Garcia II Iniguez. King Inigo Iniguez Aritza (Iñigo Iñiguez Arista, in Basque, Eneko Aritza) was the first King of Navarre in the 9th century. ...
