The Joetsu Line is a major rail line in Japan. Part of the East Japan Railway Company (JR East) system, it runs from Takasaki, in Gunma Prefecture to Miyauchi Station in Nagaoka, Niigata, in Niigata Prefecture, linking the northwestern Kanto region and the Koshinetsu part of the Chubu region. The 2004 Chuetsu Earthquake seriously damaged the Joetsu Line, causing JR East to close it for about two months. Joetsu Shinkansen - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (302 words)
Joetsu Shinkansen (上越新幹線) is a high-speed railway line connecting Tokyo and Niigata, Japan, via Tohoku Shinkansen, operated by the East Japan Railway Company.
The line was initially planned to terminate at Shinjuku Station, but economic considerations pushed JNR to merge the line with the existing Tohoku Shinkansen line at Omiya.

The Eidan Ginza Line (営団銀座線) is a metro line in Tokyo, Japan, administered by the Teito Rapid Transit Authority.
It is the oldest underground railway line in Japan: the portion between Ueno and Ginza was completed by the Tokyo Underground Railway on December 30, 1927.
The line reached Shibuya in 1939, although the segment west of Aoyama-itchome was operated by a separate company, Tokyo Rapid Railway, from 1937 to the TRTA's consolidation in 1941.
