Denner was born in Leipzig. The clarinet evolved from an earlier instrument called the chalumeau. With the help of his son Jacob Denner, JC Denner improved the chalumeau, creating a new instrument called the clarinet. Denner altered the position of one of the two keys of the chalumeau, thus increasing the range by over two octaves. He also created a better mouthpiece and enlargeded the bell of the instrument for better projection and resonance. He died at Nuremberg, (help· info) [] (Sorbian/Lusatian: Lipsk) is the largest city in the Federal State (Bundesland) of Saxony in Germany. ...
