Both his grandfather John W. Foster and his uncle Robert Lansing served as Secretary of State.
John Wesley Foster was born in Winston County, Mississippi, son of Asa Foster and Sarah Hyde Foster.
JohnFoster and three of his brothers, seeing that relatives were so numerous in the area of Mississippi they lived, decided moving away was a better plan for their children.
John's daughter lived in a house of her own on the same property his home was on and, as time went on, that house too was torn down.
