John Goodwin (1594-1665) was an English preacher and religious writer.
John Goodwin was born in Norfolk and educated at Queens' College, Cambridge. He took orders and was a popular preacher in his home county and later in London. A Puritan, he frequently spoke from the pulpit against Presbyterianism. When the English Civil War began, he favoured the Parliamentary side against the king, and afterwards the army against the Parliament. Some of his publications were publicly burned, and he was put in jail, when the King was restored in 1660, but he was soon set free.
JohnGoodwin Tower (September 29, 1925 – April 5, 1991) was the first Republican United States senator from Texas since the Reconstruction after the Civil War.
John and Lila Tower were divorced in 1987, and she died thereafter.
John Tower and his daughter are buried together in the family plot at the Sparkman-Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
