John Lyng (August 22, 1905 - January 18, 1978) was a Norwegian politician from the Conservative Party. He was Prime Minister of Norway from August 28 to September 25, 1963 in a coalition government of the Conservative Party, the Center Party, the Christian Democratic Party, and the Liberal Party. His brief time as prime minister came after the two representatives from the Socialist Left Party (at that time called the Socialist Peoples' Party) joined a slim 76-74 no confidence vote against the labor cabinet of Einar Gerhardsen following a scandal over a mining accident at King's Bay at Svalbard. The socialist vote of no confidence was merely a protest and demonstration, and the labor government was restored a month later.
