John Moore is an American engineer and author of light, humorous fantasy novels and short stories whose work has been compared to that of Terry Pratchett and Robert Asprin.
Although Moore's early stories were mostly hard-boiled science fiction, he was influenced to try humor by comedian Bill Hicks when both were students at the University of Houston.
Moore's works have been published in a number of languages other than English, notably, German, Czech and Russian.
