John R. Zeidler (1958 — d.7 May2002 ) was a guitar maker, or luthier from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania during the late 1980s until his death in May of 2002. Most of his work involved the construction of archtop guitars which he made in three grades: The Archtop, the Jazz, and the Jazz Deluxe. Zeidler's instruments are considered exceptional in quality reflecting an attention to detail and construction befitting a builder of his talents. He was also a personable and approachable individual who attended builders conventions and spoke with fellow builders and players alike. Out of respect toward him and in an effort to defray the compounded cost of treatment for acute myelogenous leukemia, the disease which brought about his untimely passing at age 44, a number of contemporary archtop guitar builders came together in support producing the "Zeidler Project" 1958 (MCMLVIII) was a common year starting on Wednesday of the Gregorian calendar. ...
